The late U.S. Senator S.I. Hayakawa of Califomia founded U.S. English, Inc. in 1983 with the objective of making English the official language of the United States govemment because he believed that a nation divided by language could not prosper. Thirty-one states have adopted some form of Official English. The House of Representatives and the Senate are currently considering Official English legislation, H.R. 997 & 5.464, which has received bipartisan support, and is supported by 88% of U.S. residents. Considering you are seeking political office, U.S. English, Inc. and our 2 million members nationwide would appreciate your answer to the following question. Your answer to this question will be used to inform our members of your stance on Official English legislation and will be published to our website.
